In this way, if a problem is due to accumulated stress, unresolved events in the past or habitual conditioning, then hypnotherapy can be used to access and reprogram underlying attitudes and beliefs which remain active at an unconscious level.
Being hypnotised is simply being in a relaxed state of consciousness so that positive suggestions may be given directly to your unconscious mind. In this state you are still fully awake, aware and in control. Just deeply relaxed. During a session you may find yourself thinking “Am I really hypnotised? Is it working? I don’t feel any different”.
Quite often a hypnotherapy session will be interactive, with the therapist asking questions. You may answer verbally or by nodding your head or lifting your fingers. You are awake and aware enough so that you can choose to come out of the hypnotic state at any time.
